Associate Director - 'Pulse' - Bamboozle Theatre Company

 

Pulse is Bamboozle's show for Children with PMLD and on the Autistic Spectrum. It is currently touring to Special Schools around the UK.

 

Lead Artist - Bamboozle Beyond - Bamboozle Theatre Company

 

I am currently devising and leading these weekly multi sensory sessions for young adults with PMLD. Each session offers a mix of music, drama, tactile, visual and kinetic experiences. Funded by the Peoples Postcode Lottery.

Creative Practitioner - Unlocking the World  - A Sensory Atelier

 

Funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation for The Attenborough Arts Centre on behalf of Bamboozle.

 

A series of Mini Residencies, and CPD sessions with Students and Staff from Ellesmere College and Ashmount Special School.

Creative Facilitator - Nottingham University and Womens Aid, Nottingham.

The development and facilitation of creative workshops with older women (aged 55 years and over) who are survivors of domestic violence and abuse.  An exploration of personal narratives, leading to the development of an online open access toolkit for health care practitioners. By sharing the women's narratives poetry and artwork, the tool kit will raise awareness of the impact and potential needs of older women who have experienced DVA, increasing knowledge and enhancing the capacity to provide effective care and support.

I am an Senior Associate Artist with www.bamboozletheatre.co.uk. Bamboozle are a charity that use pioneering techniques and the power of theatre to help enhance the lives of disabled children and their families. 

Following The Thread - DIY Theatre

This project involved DIY members gaining skills in multi-sensory approaches to theatre, with the aim of making their work more accessible to a broader audience of young people with learning difficulties. Working with Bamboozle,Venture Arts, and three partner schools, to create a pilot performance which will take place in Autumn 2014. 

Father Used To Say - Director

 

Father used to Say was funded by the Arts Council England. The project was in two parts; a Research and Development period wherby Skatz and I collected stories from the diverse communities of Leicester about people who have inspired them, and the performance itself.  I directed and script edited this one man show performed by Andrew Skatz Scattergood at Embrace Arts in July 2013.

I Am Able - Director/Devisor/Writer

The development of an interactive presentation that was taken into primary and secondary schools by service users at the Douglas Badar Centre. The aim of I AM ABLE was to inspire discussion and dispel myths surrounding disability. 

 

Communication and Learning disability -NHS Graduate Nurses Training

For the past 3 years I have delivered a drama/communication based programme for pre-registered student nurses to develop an appreciation of working effectively and proactively with people who have a learning difficulty.

 

 

Leicester Arts and Museum Services - Drama Facilitator

A collaborative project between myself, Louise Ketaraga, Leicester Museum Services and Voluntary Action Leicester. The project explored Ancient Egypt with 6 young people with learning difficulties and culminated in a sharing of work at the museum.

 

A Different Drum - Writer/Director

A project that has seen the creation of a piece of theatre that expresses issues affecting people with Learning Difficulties.
A collaboration between Bamboozle Theatre Co, Newark Day Services, and 14 adults with Learning Difficulties Currently touring round the East Midlands and used as part of Disability Training for Pre Registered Nurses at University of Nottingham School of Nursing
